The Goddess

The morning bells ring at the Kancheepuram mahavishnu temple. The first rays of sunshine is seen through the clouds. The orange light touches the sparkling water of the temple pond as the pujaris and sadhus take their bath chanting the morning prayers. The smell of sandalwood fills the air as one approaches the temple. The women have reached with their baskets full of fresh flowers and they settle themselves on the two sides of the main pathway, gearing up for yet another day at the footsteps of god’s abode. …………………………………………………………….. I dream about her nowadays. Its been a few weeks that she has been in my mind from dawn to dusk. The time I spend with her,I feel uplifted,I feel something special like never before.I wake up excited and rush to the workshop to see her sitting on the table. She still hasn’t spoken a word to me.But I have fallen in love with her. The murderer

The news of the psycho murderer was hitting the front pages after the recent family killings downtown. The fear had slowly started to set in on people.People lived in the denial that everything was fine and no one could harm them till then, but all of a sudden this killer had surfaced which they had seen only in the movies. The past 8 deaths in the city had left the city police baffled and confused. No threads to link them together,no sign of the killer nor any clue left behind. How he achieved this perfection was something screenplay writers would probably yearn to know. The mysteries had started spreading by mouth, when the police force had initially decided to keep the news undercovers to keep the fear of having a psychotic killer on the lose in the city. I bought myself a cool drink and sat sipping it and pointlessly swiping through my mobile phone. People hardly looked at each other’s faces today as all eyes were on the 5 inch screen and the world revolved around it for each person. I looked up and saw the handful of people on the platform busy doing the same. A small girl seemed to be the only enjoying the day outside playing with her balloon. I watched the innocence in her eyes ,the happiness in them as she pushed the balloon higher and watched it fall. Her mother busy on a call, called out to her to stay close. I smiled as the balloon came towards me ,as if the child inside me was opening its eyes. She came running towards me as I gently pushed the balloon into the air and she stopped a few paces ahead of me to watch it drift away. It had...
