Shall I take a train or a flight?

Image
If given an option between taking a train to Delhi from Kerala or a flight, what would you choose? I happened to choose the train and though I repented the amount of time I wasted on the journey I soon realized that I would have lost some much if I had taken a flight that lasted merely an hour. The fear of spending 2 days,ie,24x2 hours on the train,be it AC or not with no laptop or PC to help you is pretty painful at first.I had kept repeating this to my mom over and over again for the first few hourse of the journey but then I decided to make use of the time in hand. What exactly would I have done if I’d taken a flight? Drive to the airport..check in luggage, collect boarding pass and move on comfortable to the Gate mentioned. After waiting for a while,I would board my plane and buckle up my seat belt and prepare for take off.If there wasn’t a movie being played on the flight I might have taken out a book and read a few pages, then switched to music, maybe say a hi to my fellow pa...

Broken Crayons

26th March I had received a phone call from my close friend Rahul who had completed his 12th in Bahrain that we could possibly meet the evening after the All India Engineering Entrance Exam,as he would be in town for the day and will be leaving the next morning to Hyderabad. It had been years since Akhil and I had met him and had our share of laughter sharing events over the years and of old memories. So, I called up Akhil as well and informed him about the plan,ie, the exam get over at 12:30 and we could meet by around 2 or so at Marine Drive which would give us 4-5 hours together. But then it struck me that I’d given my name not just for the Btech exam but also the Barch thereafter, which began an hour after the first and lasted another three hours. So this meant that I would have less time to be with them..ah..now what? I had no intentions to pursue Architecture due to my lack of knowledge in the field but I’d decided to give the exam a shot when I submitted the application becaus...

The Golden pages of my life..

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take but by the number of moments that take your breath away”..though it has been merely 3 years since I’ve joined this fantastic school,it has given me many moments to cherish for a lifetime.. When I’d come to Kerala in 10th standard, this place was entirely new to me and I did not know what to expect of the life here.I’dd the feeling that the students here were something different but each day proved me wrong. Life here was more challenging than it was in Bahrain where one could say it was spoonfeeding in many aspects and we failed to experience the real life out there..Also maybe because I was away from my parents or maybe because it was India after all. The tension while writing the board exams in 10th and the excitement on getting the results were soon forgotten as we had bigger challenges up ahead.New friends were made and new lessons were learnt each day. Some of pain, some of joy to some of love but all for a reason. The t...

Plunging Into the Dark Continent

An African Safari... The two months vacation after the strenuous 10th standard Boards w ere indeed very memorable for me. I had decided to pay a visit to my uncle in Tanzania on my way back from Bahrain. Disembarking from the plane...and stepping foot on the African Soil was indeed a special sensation, though it might sound silly when you hear it. Thanks to the diary, I’d kept updated during my stay there; I’m now able to recount my experience of the African Safari. Our journey began when we landed at the Kilimanjaro Int Airport (KIA), on the Precision Airlines flight. Unlike the other planes, this one resembled a 19th century fighter plane, with rotating blades on the wings, which provided lift to the plane. I was lucky to catch a glimpse of the Kilimanjaro Mountain through the small cabin window. Our 1st destination was the ‘Ngorongoro Crater’. It took us a few hrs to reach there. The place was engulfed with thick, silvery mist and the smell of fresh air was rejuvenating. After taking...
