Shall I take a train or a flight?
If given an option between taking a train to Delhi from Kerala or a flight, what would you choose? I happened to choose the train and though I repented the amount of time I wasted on the journey I soon realized that I would have lost some much if I had taken a flight that lasted merely an hour.
The fear of spending 2 days,ie,24x2 hours on the train,be it AC or not with no laptop or PC to help you is pretty painful at first.I had kept repeating this to my mom over and over again for the first few hourse of the journey but then I decided to make use of the time in hand.
What exactly would I have done if I’d taken a flight?
Drive to the airport..check in luggage, collect boarding pass and move on comfortable to the Gate
mentioned. After waiting for a while,I would board my plane and buckle up my seat belt and prepare for take off.If there wasn’t a movie being played on the flight I might have taken out a book and read a few pages, then switched to music, maybe say a hi to my fellow passenger and then enjoy the meal and the smiles on the air-hostess….Land at the Delhi airport the ‘same day’ hardly having lost much time..wouldn’t you have done pretty much the same?Well, how about in the train?
I enjoyed the trip on the train as I spent time looking out of the window for a very long time as each moment the scenery changed and it was lovely to observe nature. I then either switched to music or to the books I had brought along and spent quite a lot of time doing peaceful reading.I even spent some time with my camera and got a few good shots.
When we reached a good station,I used to buy some of the delicacies of the place and enjoy the food.Being with mom,I got to talk to her a lot and most of all got introduced to the different people in our compartment.
There were a few Keralites like us and a whole lot of north Indians as well but in this journey,we were one big family.I played UNO cards with almost everyone in the train and the graduate girl next to me loved the game so much that she hardly put the cards down.
The aspect of making new friends,be it just even one is what I liked the most of the journey via train.I felt pretty sad as we were approaching Kochi as to whether we would ever come across each other again and I took the cell numbers and e-mail id’s of a few good friends I’d made on the train…

So the next time,if you had and option between the two…what would you choose my friend?
